As interaction designers we shape the digital world around us, we are creative problem solvers.

Enthusiastic and adaptable to change, our students explore the potential of interaction design in our ever changing world. Interaction Design at Belfast School of Art spans digital products, branding, creative entrepreneurship, user experience design, user interface design, typography and visual storytelling for digital contexts and even the exploration of virtual and augmented reality experiences.

Firstly though thinking, idea generation and developing work through sketches and prototyping are central to the production of interaction design work. We encourage research, professionalism and an international perspective. Our analytical approach enables us to engage with exciting interaction design challenges, react to a rapidly changing industry and to develop as sensitive and intelligent practitioners.

Digital Portfolio & Interview

Students are selected through a digital portfolio and (sometimes) an interview. The course team encourage potential applicants to show their creativity through their portfolio, which can be paper-based, screen-based or both.

We want to see evidence of your thinking and we encourage you to show sketchbooks and working drawings that show us how your ideas were developed. We’ll work with you to improve your drawing and technical skills. You do not need to be a computer genius to join this course – at this stage we are more interested with your creative potential.
